Baradene sets out to grow the whole of you - mind, body, spirit, and heart - because the aim is not a certain kind of girl; it is the fullest version of the one who arrived.
The Five Goals
Everything we do at Baradene is shaped by five goals. They have guided Sacred Heart schools around the world for more than two hundred years, and they still describe, simply, the kind of person we hope a Baradene girl becomes.
Believe. A Personal and Active Faith in God
In faith you will come to recognise God at work in your own life: in your joys, your sorrows, your struggles and the choices you make. Faith here is not kept apart from ordinary life; it makes room for quiet and for listening, and what you hear in that stillness shapes what you go on to do. Knowing that you are loved without condition is what allows you to live with hope and confidence.
Think. A Deep Respect for Intellectual Values
Great emphasis is placed upon your capability for critical thinking and reasoning. Recognising the distinction between what you do and why you do it is an essential element in your education. Your imagination and creativity will be stretched, because without these, you cannot become a well-informed, thinking, sensitive person. Your individual gifts and talents will be nurtured, and your education will inspire intellectual curiosity, a global mindset and a life-long love of learning
Love. Building community as a Christian value
Coming to Baradene, you are entering a family and arriving at a home. Accept with gratitude the people you find here, because it is from them and with them that you learn what love is. A home is made not by its buildings or its history but by what is given and received in it, day after day. Beyond Baradene, you belong to an international family of Sacred Heart schools.
Care. A Social Awareness that Impels to Action
Knowing that the world is unfair is not enough. You will learn how injustice works and be given real chances to respond through knowledge and compassionate action. It begins here in your own community and reaches across that wider network. It is meant to last long after you leave, wherever your life takes you. Love in this tradition always takes the form of service, caring for one another and for the world we share.
