2019 Maadi Cup Regatta (Lake Karapiro)

Our 7th regatta for the 2018/2019 season has proven to be our best ever Maadi, gaining SEVEN A-FINALS.

We won our first ever GOLD in a ‘big boat’ with the Under 17 Eight leading from the start and taking the win in an incredible performance from the entire crew. They were awarded the Fairfield Shield for their efforts and have memories that will last a lifetime (Lucy Burrell, Charlotte Murphy, Lauren Page, Amy Patten, Charlotte Rattray, Sophie Robinson, Grainne Walsh, Tara Williams, cox Sarah Simpson).
The only other Gold ever won for Baradene was in 2003 in a Double.

We also achieved SILVER in the U16 Single sculls (Grainne Walsh) and a BRONZE in the U17 Coxed Quad (Lucy Burrell, Whetu Meihana, Lauren Page, Amy Patten and cox Claudia Addock)

Baradene College Rowing 2019 is now:

  • Top Auckland Girls Rowing school
  • 3rd Girls School in the North Island
  • 7th equal top Girls school in NZ

Outstanding results that every rower, parent and supporter are so proud of.

On top of this Grainne Walsh and Lucy Burrell have gained a NZ Junior trial and Sarah Simpson and Amy Patten a North Island trial.

We say a huge thank you to all parents who helped during the week, Steve Walsh and the committee, and Lauren Arndt, Sports Manager in charge of Rowing.

A final huge thanks to our team of coaches - Head Coach Caspar Hammond and Zoe Stephenson, Amber Fordham and Erica van Standen.
